Julian Price Campground is located at Milepost 297 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is part of the scenic Julian price Memorial Park featuring 4,300 acres of forest, meadows, and lake nestled between Grandfather Mountain and the popular town of Blowing Rock. Adjoining Moses Cone Memorial Park, this is one of the largest public recreation areas on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

There are rock and water features, long distance trails, and lovely day hikes to experience by just walking out of your campsite. Historic landmarks and quaint towns are nearby.

The campground has a Lakeside Loop but only tent campers get a waterfront site. RV’s can camp in nice open lawn sites in the lakeside loop. We enjoyed the E & F loop for the van. There are wooded sites and lawn sites for RV’s. There are some good level sites with space. There is some cell signal at spots in those loops. All sites are non electric and no hook ups.

The campground has recycling, water fill and dump station. There are clean restrooms, but no showers.

Julian Price Adventures

The Mountains to Sea Trail runs through the campground. 13.5 mile section of this trail is also called the Tanawha trail. Its starts or ends at Beacon Heights or Julian Price Campground and leads through Grandfather Mountain State Park. There are many trails in GFMSP that climb to amazing summits and rocky outcrops.

The 5.2 mile Boone Fork Trail runs from the campground to the Julian Price Picnic area. Waterfalls, swim holes and rock features are the highlight of this trail.

Rocky Knob Bike Park in the nearby town of Boone offers mountain bike trails of all skill level.

The towns of Boone and Blowing Rock are nearby for shops, restaurants and breweries.
